I haven’t been much interested in Guild Wars 2 since they have a nasty habit of taking content away but it sounds like the latest update may be doing something about that. Seems there is a way to experience past living story content. I don’t have all of the details but from what I’ve read around the internet, there’s going to be something called the living journal. It will allow you to play past story content as well as do new challenges related to it for elite items. The Gates of Maguuma is supposed to start today. I’m hoping it rekindles my interest in a game that I had a lot of fun in. Still wish they would’ve gone the route of expansions like their first game but I’ll settle on this living journal if it works the way it’s been explained.

Diablo 3 Adventure mode! FF14 patch!
Thanks to the latest Diablo 3 expansion, it’s rekindled my interest in Diablo 3 more than I expected. After Highgrade and I beat the expansion on torment difficulty, we decided to try the adventure mode last night and it has my attention! You are able to travel around the world and complete bounties which reward a ton of experience and loot. There’s a lot going on in that mode but I hope to have some video of our antics posted sometime this weekend.
On the FF14 front, a major patch has dropped that gave our small house a lot more floor space to work with as well as NPC’s to mend our gear and for us to sell our junk to as well as buy some basic crafting materials from. We have a garden now and are starting to do more Labyrinth of the Ancients thanks to the loot restriction being removed. It appears to be the easiest gear grind in the game due to the currency it drops and the really neat looking armor.
GW2: Fractals, part Duex!
Starting November 26th, we will have access to the Thaumanova Reactor fractal on top of several other new fractals. Bare in mind that the fractals of the mist are random so you aren’t guaranteed to see all the new stuff in one go. Also, there was a loot update for fractals so get grinding!
GW2: Tower of Nightmares
Looks like more content before the end of this month. The Tower of Nightmares starts on October 29th in Kessex Hills. Looks like another goody for your home instance as well as some kind of cleansing skill that can be used by all classes. Follow the link for more info!
Defiance, will it be good in the long run?
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted something so here goes! I’ve been playing around with Defiance since beta and the game seems to be great for a post apocalyptic world with aliens and wasted landscapes. It was released a few weeks ago and just like any game/MMO with that fresh release smell, it has its quirks and bugs but it looks like Trion is working on them as fast as they can and they seem to be keeping a good line of communication going on their site and twitter. I’ve played the game just about every day since its release and I’ve enjoyed the game play and the story. The game ties into the TV show that will air its full first episode on the Syfy channel April 15th. A reminder they had up for sometime in game indicated that you should make sure to play the ‘Episode Missions’ that are currently available because the first episode of the show is almost here. The missions give you back story on Nolan and his daughter that helps explain a little bit of their situation. I think the missions will go away once the first episode airs.
Anyways, as I get time, I’ll list a little review of the game. Currently there are just 2 of us ‘Goons playing but there may be some more as time goes on. My understanding is the game evolves with what happens in the show and vice versa so I look forward to what they do in game. I get the feeling this game will last a long time. With no subscription fee for an MMO, its not like you are losing money on the game if you take a break from it and come back later. Just means more content!
GW2: Wintersday Event Dec 14 to Jan 2
The event action keeps coming! According to guildwars2.com, we should expect the Wintersday event to start on December 14th and end on January 2nd. Stay tuned to the supplied link for any additional information on the event! Remember, just like past events, any level character can participate!
GW2: The Lost Shores Event, coming in November!
Just as the Halloween event has ended, another event is on the Horizon in Guild Wars 2. According to a forum post today over on Guildwars2.com, we should expect an event to start on November 16th. Stay tuned!
Borderlands 2 & Torchlight 2 Preloading in Steam!
If you haven’t been keeping track of your preorders or are still on the fence if you are going to get them, Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 are now preloading in Steam! If you are a co-op game addict like me, you will probably want to get these 2 games eventually. Borderlands 2 will be releasing on September 18th. Some of us ‘Goons will probably be doing some party action for sure since some of us played the first one. I still recommend that if you haven’t played the first one, you should! It was a comical game and yet had a serious angle to it. Of course, not recommended for play when children are around unless you condone it of course.
Torchlight 2 has been anticipated for sometime ever since the first one came out. The first one was a nice trip back to the days of diablo 2 except Torchlight had very nice 3d graphics. Part 2 brings new classes to play as as well as co-op! The first game was only single player but I’m all about the partying up with friends and kicking some butt! Torchlight 2 should release September 20th. As always, I recommend grabbing these games in Steam since its very easy to use and it will keep you games up-to-date. It’s very simple to setup an account and download their Steam client. Plus it just makes it easier to invite friends to a game.
Guild Wars 2 Countdown, early access tonight
It’s that time again! For those ‘Goons that preordered Guild Wars 2 there is a countdown currently on their site that will let you know when the access begins. We will be doing a quick get together around 6pm MST in the guild teamspeak server so make sure to hop in with us so we can get squared away on our game plan(what we will play most likely). Team Fortress 2 with bots?
Those whacky guys at Valve may be introducing bots to Team Fortress 2 in a sick Co-op setting. It looks like Red and Blue Vs some Robots. . I’ll see what the update does in the coming days but the videos they do for the game are always cool!
